Providence Lower School – Christian Elementary School in Santa Barbara
At Providence Lower School (K–6), students grow academically, spiritually, and socially in a Christ-centered environment. Our experienced teachers and small class sizes provide individualized attention, fostering curiosity, confidence, and character.
Lower School students learn the basics—reading, writing, and math—but also are introduced to literature, history, science, art, music, and the Bible in an academic and social environment that prepares them to become lifelong learners
Enthusiastic teachers guide students step-by-step in acquiring academic skills, encouraging them to think critically and develop a sense of personal responsibility.
Enrichment classes enhance the core curriculum with Spanish, art, music, science, and physical education.
Students in Grades 4–6 have opportunities to participate in organized athletics and to lead worship band in our weekly chapel.
At Providence, we believe every child is created by a loving God with a unique purpose. Lower School Bible classes introduce students to God’s love in an age-appropriate way, helping them live meaningful lives.
Weekly chapel allows students to lead and participate in worship while hearing from pastors and teachers, emphasizing both heart and mind in following Christ.
Faith at Providence extends beyond chapel and Bible class. Christian teachers integrate Biblical principles across all subjects, guiding students in character development—love, integrity, humility, care for others, and a desire to make the world better. Families of all faiths are welcome.
Field trips, service projects, and experiential learning make education meaningful and memorable, helping students connect classroom learning with God’s created world.
Providence Lower School students have numerous opportunities to go beyond the classroom and to learn in the field. From kindergarten trips to the pumpkin patch, to sixth graders visiting Catalina Island to study marine biology, field trips are significant times for learning and for growing together as a community.
