Bio: Attended: Westmont College; Union Presbyterian Seminary Degrees: B.A. Religious Studies; M.A. Christian Education Joined Providence in 2002 Julie Sommers began her Providence career as office manager for El Montecito School. In her career in Christian education, she has served for three years as Director of Christian Education (D.C.E.) at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Modesto, fifteen years as the D.C.E. for First Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara, and for fourteen years as the Director of Children’s Ministries for St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Santa Barbara. Mrs. Sommers loves the Providence devotion to mission within the community. She considers the opportunity to be of service to the school a gift. She is the mother of three grown children; her daughter Hannah is an El Montecito School alum and was the valedictorian of the Providence Hall Class of 2012. Her favorite Providence traditions are the sixth-grade student speeches and the Fall Festival.
