      Providence teachers celebrate creativity and inspire joy in learning! A great example of this is the vibrant work our students produce in the lower school art program. As the fourth grade studies California history, in art class students create whimsical watercolor paintings of California missions inspired by artist Natalie Goldberg. This is just one example of how Mrs. Yager integrates grade-level classroom curricula into art projects so students can connect art to literature, history, science, or math. #inspirechallengeprepare
      
      Mrs. Prahm's unit on light, heat, and sound energy was a hands-on experience for the third-grade students. They made their own kaleidoscopes to see refraction and opacity, experimented with popcorn for a yummy lesson on how heat changes matter, and created musical instruments in an in-depth STEM challenge—putting knowledge of sound energy into practice. #inspirechallengeprepare #STEM
      
      Starting college conversations early and creating opportunities to expose students to a variety of college programs is a priority for Providence’s comprehensive college counseling program, under the direction of Mrs. Sophie Troya. 9th and 10th-grade students recently toured two local college campuses, Westmont and UCSB. Students toured Westmont with Assistant Director of Admission Grace Bjorkman to learn about the private Christian liberal arts school. Students then headed to Isla Vista for lunch at the iconic Woodstock’s Pizza, followed by a walking tour of UCSB’s large public university campus led by Colleen Severson, Director of Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship at UCSB. #encouragechallengeprepare
      
      Last night, our Lower School students enchanted faculty, family, and friends with their music, acting, and singing in the annual Christmas program. In addition, the first grade impressed all with their recitation of the entire chapter of Luke 2 from memory.
